This weekend at the San Antonio Museum of Art, I attended a Lecture by Frederick L. Schodt.

I attended this event because I rarely ever go to the Museum of Art for anything. And this sudden interest in Anime as a topic of interest intrigued me. After a short drive outside San Antonio's downtown area, Meredith and I wondered the Museum briefly while waiting for the lecture to start. As we would browse the various depiction of the Crucifiction of Christ, where I would make crude Zombie Jesus jokes and Gangsta references when discribing the patron saints, we headed back to the main auditorium.

While we sat down, our seat was close to the reserved section where the Museum director and Frederick L. Schodt would sit as they waited for the equipement to be set up for the lecture's start. While seating nearly directly behind Mr. Schodt, I thought I'd strike a conversation with him. I had asked what other book he had done, because for some reason, one of the titles sounded familiar. It was "Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics." I then told him about a friend of mine that had recommended the book in a case he asked to help out with. Mr. Schodt then commented on how he was called as an expert witness on a case conserning his book. To his recollection he recalled the case being settled out of court...

Hey! Congrats on winning the contest! I'll see you at Realmscon with my crew! I clicked from the link on the Realmscon page and was like WOAH. This guys is awesome! He loves Betty Boop and Astro Boy too and knows of the History of Betty Boops influence on Tezuka. That is pretty awesome and something I can respect as a fellow nerd when it comes to studying the history of cartoons and animation around the world. Hope there is time for us to meet in person and chat at the con. You seem like a real cool cat!

Yes, I'm familiar with your gang. I've thought about heading to RC so many times, but this was a chance I had to try out for. Now I have no excuse not to go. My manga pals are making arrangements to have a promotion table in convention alley. Just look for FSM (firststormmanga.com) I would love to sit and talk with your group.
